Today my boss is like “So apparently we’re sharing a hotel room at Siggraph”
So apparently I need a new US visa. D’oh.

A bigger company is so different! So… corporate! There’s corporate email, IT, support tickets, strict access control, rfid security cards etc etc.
Also a shitton of internal documentation. My head is still swimming with acronyms. Whee.
1. Damn, this thing is small
2. Shipped with a butt-ugly huge UK plug. But it’s just a standard figure-8 cable so my PSP’s charger plug fits the EEE charger perfectly. Thanks, Sony!
3. Further bulletins as events warrant.
4. SO SMALL (it’s liek the opposite of an xbox)
…is fast! Wheee.
The single biggest UI improvement imo is the new remember-this-password interface – now I can see if I had the right login before having to decide about making the browser remember it or not! I fully endorse moving away from modal dialogs. (Now if only Thunderbird would do the same for connection errors…)
so I bought this CD from the internets (paying for music, go figure)
cranky is this obscure japanese indie rave/trance musician, and lo and behold on the CD and on his myspace it says “Hiroshi Watanabe”, but if you google that name you get to this guy, video game music etc and fairly high profile apparently. Now either there are two japanese musicians with the same name and close in style, OR this guy is leading a dual Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde type of life, selling original music on his website by day and DJing by night or perhaps the other way around. To top it off on last.fm it says he’s a she (which is just absurd, the cd has a photo of a guy, plus Hiroshi is a male name, so uh…)
it is a mystery
anyway enough playing internet detective, also I don’t even like trance or rave but his stuff is pretty good, more like half classical actually
in other news, bassza meg a lo, tudtam hogy ez lesz, most mondhatom le az n betus ceget (vagy a g betuset ami hulyeseg lenne), ahhhhhhhhh
Parker and Stone are fucking geniuses.
This week’s episode of SP topped the previous lineup of dumb memes with an eerily awesome parody of Grapes of Wrath. Plus, the whole “no internet = isolated from the world” angle is oh so familiar…
edit: not safe for work
trying a new server (and wp 2.5) hosted in tokyo this time, so it’s faster for me but slower from europe etc. I wonder. at least it’s cheap but it’s crappy shared hosting, bleh. most jp hosts are crazy expensive even for tiny amounts of space (tens or hundreds of megabytes) – guess they haven’t discovered the magical secret of overselling (yet).
hanami count for 2008: 3.5 – 4 depending on the exact definition

Interviewed last week at that other company that starts with N and makes video cards. Went drinking with the lab – stayed for karaoke until 6AM. Slept 4 hours. The same day, interviewed again with the company that starts with G and does internet stuff. If I were to end up having to choose between the two, I’d be in deep shit.
